Travel: Tucson, AZ Part 2

On a morning walk, we encountered a little wildlife!

Looking pretty on a warm day.
Someone is looking for a morning snack!
Mourning Dove nesting in a light fixture.

We made a visit to San Xavier del Bac mission.  Founded by Spanish Franciscans in 1797.  It is popular with locals and tourists alike.

Exterior and mission entrance.
Main altar and dome.
Ornate pair of Altar lions.
Bell tower and sky.
Side altarpiece.

  1. We love all the excellent pictures — especially notable is your ability to capture wildlife. All are worthy of keeping in our travel notes! Muchas gracias!

  2. Excellent photo of what has to be the curved bill thrasher – the bill, spotted breast and yellow eye (this one has “red eye”) give it away. (BTW, I had to look it up) It doesn’t seem to be a mimic like our brown thrasher, whose range doesn’t extend as far west. The brown thrasher is just returning here from its winter range. I know…probably TMI unless you’re a birder.

  3. A close friend of mine just moved to Tuscon for a job and bought a house there. I will visit some time this year. Your trip postings makes me anxious to go.
